About Us
An Atelier Dedicated to the Preservation, Revival & Future of Indian Textile Heritage
Rang Riwaaz is a textile atelier rooted in India and led by Jyoti Singh, whose practice spans heirloom preservation, textile conservation, and the creative revival of India’s historic craft traditions. With a studio in India and a presence in London, the atelier works across continents — honouring heritage while serving a global community.
Every textile that enters our care carries history, memory, and meaning. Our role is to protect that story with integrity, artistry, and respect. Each heirloom is provided the need care and attention as appropriate for the condition and purpose, through our focused specialized service categories as listed ahead:
Heirloom Preservation
For families and individuals preserving cherished heirlooms.
Through our signature services — Refresh by Rang, Repair by Rang, and Restore by Rang — we revive sarees, Vintage Bridal odhanas, shawls, menswear, and ceremonial garments with techniques rooted in heritage craft and informed by conservation ethics. Each treatment is tailored, respectful, and designed to extend the life of the textile for the next generation.
Textile Conservation
For private collectors, museums, archives, and cultural custodians.
Our conservation practice provides museum‑grade care for fragile, antique, and historically significant textiles. We specialise in structural stabilisation, fibre consolidation, metallic thread conservation, and archival preservation — guided by professional conservation principles of minimal intervention, reversibility, and ethical decision‑making.
This pillar reflects our commitment to safeguarding India’s textile heritage with precision and integrity.
Revivals by Rang
For clients seeking new heirloom pieces inspired by heritage.
Revivals by Rang is our creative direction studio — where archival motifs, discontinued weaves, and historic silhouettes are reimagined into contemporary heirlooms. From reviving rare Banarasi techniques to reconstructing lost borders and commissioning special looms, this pillar celebrates the living, evolving nature of Indian textile craft.

Our Philosophy
We believe heirlooms are not just garments — they are vessels of memory, identity, and lineage. Our work is guided by three principles:
-
Preserve what is original
-
Respect what is historic
-
Revive what is fading
Whether we are stabilising an 18th‑century textile or creating a new heirloom inspired by archival motifs, our approach remains the same: careful, intentional, and deeply rooted in heritage.
About Jyoti Singh
Founder & Creative Director | ICON Pathway Member (Institute of Conservation, UK)
Jyoti Singh leads Rang Riwaaz with a practice that bridges heritage craft, conservation‑aligned methodology, and thoughtful creative direction. Her work spans heirloom preservation, institutional conservation projects, and the revival of archival Indian textiles through the atelier’s India‑based studio.
Rooted in Awadh — a region shaped by Nawabi couture and the quiet refinement of Lucknowi tehzeeb — Jyoti grew up in a culture where garments carried emotion, ceremony, and legacy. This sensibility informs her approach to every textile entrusted to the atelier.
Her practice is grounded in respect for material, technique, and cultural lineage, ensuring each heirloom is treated with the dignity it deserves and restored with integrity, intention, and care.
