Repair by Rang

Repair by Rang is designed for heirlooms that carry visible damage — tears, weakened zones, frayed borders, missing motifs, heat‑affected areas, or sections damaged by burning or accidental exposure to heat sources. This service focuses on structural integrity, weave repair, and embellishment reconstruction, while preserving the textile’s original character and emotional value.

It is ideal for sarees, odhanas, shawls, dupattas, menswear, and ceremonial garments that need careful intervention without full restoration.

If the textile is antique, extremely fragile, or requires deep conservation, we guide you to Restore by Rang for perosonal usage or Textile Conservation for display purposes and Museum collections.

Saree Selvedge Repair

Reinforcing the Protective Edge
The selvedge — the boundary that keeps the saree’s weave or surface design secure — can weaken with age, wear, or repeated use. We reinforce this edge using hand‑matched materials shaped to follow the saree’s original line, restoring strength without altering its natural fall.

Securing Loose Threads & Frayed Boundaries
When threads along the selvedge begin to loosen or fray, we secure them using fine, controlled stitches that blend into the existing structure. This prevents further unraveling, keeps borders aligned, and ensures the saree retains its clean, finished edge.

Rebuilding Damaged or Missing Selvedge Sections
Where portions of the selvedge have worn away or detached, we rebuild the missing sections using compatible materials and craft‑aligned techniques. The restored edge integrates seamlessly with the saree, preserving both stability and aesthetic continuity.

Section Damage & Burnt Spot Repair

Strengthening Damaged Sections
Localised areas where the fabric has thinned, torn, or lost stability are reinforced using hand‑matched supports. Each insert is shaped precisely to the contour of the damaged section, restoring strength and ensuring the textile regains a smooth, confident drape.

Rebuilding Lost Surface Areas
Where sections of the surface have been lost — whether woven, printed, painted, or foiled — we rebuild the missing zone using compatible materials and craft‑aligned techniques. This restores continuity to motifs, borders, and ground fabric so the garment feels whole again.

Reviving Burnt Spots & Heat‑Affected Zones
Burnt spots and heat‑affected areas are carefully trimmed, cleaned, and stabilised. We then re‑tone the damaged zone using colour‑matched materials, re‑outline motifs where needed, and rebuild weakened sections so the textile regains visual coherence and finish.

Structural Stabilisation

Reinforcing Weakened Areas
Sections where the fabric has thinned, softened, or begun to fail are strengthened using hand‑matched support materials. Each reinforcement is shaped to the textile’s natural movement, restoring stability without altering its drape or character.

Securing Loose Warps & Wefts
When foundational threads begin to shift or loosen, we secure them using fine, controlled stitches that follow the original direction of the weave. This prevents further distortion, keeps motifs aligned, and restores the textile’s structural integrity.

Stabilising Tears & Splits
Tears, splits, and stress lines are carefully realigned and stabilised using discreet, conservation‑aligned stitches. These controlled interventions hold the fabric securely while keeping the repaired area visually unobtrusive and comfortable to wear.
