The Atelier

A space where heritage is studied, restored, and reimagined.

Founded in 2015 by Jyoti Singh, Rang Riwaaz brings together her lineage of textile appreciation, her training in couture craftsmanship, and her commitment to preserving India’s material heritage.

Her practice bridges two worlds — the precision of conservation and the poetry of design. Over the years, she has studied heirlooms closely, understanding their emotional weight, their cultural lineage, and the quiet power they hold within families and communities.

What began as a personal calling has grown into an atelier dedicated to thoughtful, intentional preservation. Rang Riwaaz is her way of ensuring these stories continue — cared for, honoured, and carried forward.

Our Philosophy

At Rang Riwaaz, every textile is treated as a living archive — a keeper of memory, lineage, and artistry. We believe heirlooms are not objects to be stored away, but stories meant to continue.

Our work is guided by a simple principle: preserve what is precious, honour what is inherited, and revive what deserves to live again.

This is an atelier built on reverence — for craft, for culture, and for the quiet intelligence of handmade textiles.

Our Craft Approach

Heritage Textile Restoration & Conservation

Restoration here is not repair. For us it is a dialogue with the past, turning pages of a fmaily album, visiting pages of history.

We study each piece with the care of a conservator and the eye of a couture craftsperson — examining weave structures, fibre behaviour, dye histories, and the unique vulnerabilities of age.

Every intervention is intentional, minimal, and aligned with archival best practices.

Whether strengthening a fragile Banarasi tissue, refining a trousseau ensemble, or stabilising a vintage border, our goal is always the same: to protect the integrity of the textile while restoring its dignity and beauty.

Design Language

Indian Textile Heritage & Motif Interpretation

Our design sensibility is rooted in India’s rich textile heritage — its motifs, borders, weaving traditions, and regional vocabularies.

In our revival work, we reinterpret these elements with restraint and respect. We do not replicate; we translate. We do not modernise for novelty; we evolve with purpose.

Each contemporary heirloom we create is shaped by archival inspiration and couture‑grade precision, allowing heritage to move forward without losing its soul.

Inside the Atelier

Traditional Techniques, Modern Conservation Practices

The atelier is a quiet, intentional space — part studio, part archive, part sanctuary for craft.

Here, textiles are draped, studied, and illuminated in natural light. Threads are examined under magnification. Borders are mapped. Motifs are traced back to their origins. Every piece is approached with patience and a deep sense of responsibility.

This is slow work. Deliberate work. Work that honours the hands that came before ours.

A Continuing Legacy

Every heirloom entrusted to us becomes part of a larger narrative — one of continuity, care, and cultural memory.

Our role is simple: to preserve what time has softened, to strengthen what age has worn, and to help each textile find its next chapter.
